Snow continued to fall for another two days. Richard slept, tossed and turned, ate the small portions of food that Tino prepared for him, and slept again. Della didn’t own a television, so Tino spent his time reading cheesy romance novels on his phone and sleeping under the duvet next to Richard. The room was surprisingly cozy.

On the morning of the third day, he woke to find more groceries had been put on the kitchen table. Ray had been in and had obviously seen them in bed together. Tino wondered what he thought about that and what his reaction would be when Tino next saw him.

He found out soon afterwards. It had finally stopped snowin, so he took the opportunity to clear a path from the house to Della’s truck.

"You guys got enough wood in the house?" Ray asked.

"Yes, thanks, Ray. And thanks for the groceries."

Ray nodded. "Glad to see you're doing okay. He needs someone, you know. Someone to take care of him. You seem to be doing a pretty good job. I guess being a PA isn’t just about answering the phone, huh."

"Right." Tino began to feel uncomfortable. He couldn’t tell what Ray was driving at. It could go either way, and small-town America could be a dangerous place for people in the gay community.

"Hey, don't worry. I'm just glad he's found someone." Ray winked as he turned away.

As he went back into his house, Tino tried not to smile.
